Soiree Terms of Use

Last updated 11 October 2026 — covers "Black Cat Soiree Tarot Reading" (Japanese name: 黒猫のソワレ ― タロット占い) for iOS and Android

These terms of use ("the Terms") set out the rules for using "Black Cat Soiree Tarot Reading" ("the App"). Please use the App only if you accept them. For how your information is handled, see the privacy policy; for how the App works, see Support.

Effective date: 12 October 2026

1. What the App is

  • In the App, Soiree, a black cat reader, turns tarot cards and answers your question in writing. There are two things to use: the Card of the Day (one card a day, free, prepared text, no AI) and Soiree's Tarot Reading (a full reading that starts from your question, written by an AI, bought with a ticket or on the subscription; one three-card reading can be tried free, once).
  • Soiree's Tarot Reading and follow-up answers are written by Gemini, an AI made by Google LLC. The second stage of the safety check uses Claude, an AI made by Anthropic PBC. Neither is written by a person. The Card of the Day uses no AI; its text is prepared in advance. Section 4 of the privacy policy lists what is sent to the AI.
  • The App is for entertainment. Readings are text written by an AI, based on traditional ways of reading tarot, and they do not predict future events.
  • The App gives no medical, legal, or financial advice. For anything concerning your health, money, or legal position, please consult a professional. If you need someone to talk to, the support page lists helplines.

2. No account registration

  • No account registration. No registration with your name or email address is required. Internal identifiers are used to manage purchases and restoration. The App does not ask for your phone number, date of birth, or location as separate input fields.
  • Readings taken are counted with a key created for your device; what you have bought is counted with a key tied to the store transaction. Section 3 of the privacy policy explains how each key is made.
  • Resetting your device, or installing the App on another one, does not carry over what is stored on the device. With "Restore purchases", when the purchases can be verified under the same store account you bought with, your available remaining tickets and an active subscription can be restored. Purchased tickets may not be restorable.
  • Everything is sold as an in-app purchase through the App Store or Google Play. The readings in the App are provided by the developer. Purchases and payments are handled by the App Store or Google Play under their own rules. The developer never receives your card details.
  • Prices, product names, and periods are shown on the store's product page and on the purchase screen inside the App. The amount you pay follows the price displayed by App Store / Google Play.
  • The subscription renews automatically. Unless it is cancelled, it renews each month and the price for the renewed period is charged to the payment method held by your store account. Follow each store’s billing and cancellation deadlines, including any charge before renewal.
  • Cancel from your App Store or Google Play account settings. The App's settings screen links straight there. Neither deleting your account nor deleting the App stops subscription billing. After cancelling, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
  • Refunds follow Apple's and Google's own rules. Use Apple’s Report a Problem or Google Play’s refund help. Email the address below as well and the developer will help where possible.
  • The free parts are the Card of the Day (one card a day; it uses up nothing) and one free try of a three-card Soiree's Tarot Reading. The try is once per device and does not come back if you reinstall the App or delete your account. If the device cannot be verified, the try may not be available. Other readings are bought as a ticket or on the subscription. A subscription never starts on its own.
  • There are two monthly plans: Daily one-ticket plan (JPY 500/month, one ticket each day) and Daily three-ticket plan (JPY 1,200/month, three tickets each day). You may subscribe to one plan at a time. One ticket pays for one three-card reading, with no daily limit on how many readings you may take. Purchased tickets are available as 3 Tickets (JPY 100) or 10 Tickets (JPY 250). One ticket pays for one reading. Purchased tickets never expire. Tickets delivered by a monthly plan expire at 00:00 Japan time 180 days after delivery. Unused subscription tickets carry over until their expiry and remain usable after cancellation until then. A reading paid for with a purchased or subscription ticket includes one follow-up, available from the journal until 23:59 Japan time on the day of the reading. The free trial does not include a follow-up.
  • Family Sharing and the Google Play family library are not supported. Purchases work on the buying account only.

4. What you should not do

Please do not:

  • break the law, or infringe anyone else's rights;
  • tamper with how the App works in order to hold readings or entitlements you were not given;
  • use automated means to request readings in bulk, or otherwise interfere with the service;
  • copy, distribute, or sell the card artwork, the card index text, or the designs of the App beyond your own private use (using the text of your own readings in your own notes or posts is fine);
  • present a reading from the App to anyone as medical, legal, or financial advice;
  • contact support while pretending to be someone else.

Where such use is found, the App may be made unavailable on that device.

5. Intellectual property

The 78 cards were created for this app one by one with AI; nothing is scanned from a commercial deck. Rights in the artwork, text, and designs belong to the developer or to their rightful owners. The records kept in the app (the cards drawn and reading text) are yours.

6. Your information

What is held, where it goes, how long it is kept, and how to delete it are all set out in the privacy policy. Your question is not stored on the developer's server as a separate field. However, the temporarily stored reading text may contain details from your question. The text of a single report you attach yourself when reporting a reading is also stored (deleted by a daily process after 90 days have elapsed; see section 6 of the privacy policy). Your journal stays on your device.

When you send a follow-up from the journal, its original reading text is sent back to the server and to Google as context. The privacy policy also covers device verification, purchase and refund ledgers, and information retained after account deletion.

7. Safety messages

If your question contains wording about harming yourself or someone else, the App does not produce a reading and shows a list of helplines instead. You are not asked to pay again, and no ticket is used up. A ticket delivered by a monthly plan is also returned if used. See section 5 of the privacy policy and "What if the reading fails?" in Support.

8. Changes to the service

  • The App, in whole or in part, may be paused without notice for maintenance, for a fault, or for a change in how it works.
  • Features may be added, changed, or withdrawn. Changes that matter to you will be announced through an App update or on this page.
  • The App relies on an outside service to write readings. While that service is down, a reading may not be produced. What comes back in that case (returns of purchased and subscription tickets are subject to conditions) is set out under "What if the reading fails?" in Support.

If we cannot deliver enough of the text, the ticket used is returned when the conditions are met. No ticket is returned after an interruption if at least half of the generated text and at least 100 characters have been delivered. Automatic returns are limited to two per calendar day in Japan time for both the same device and purchaser ID. Failed follow-up processing also counts toward this limit. Contact support if the limit is exceeded or your ticket is not returned.

9. Limits of responsibility

  • The App is provided as it is. The developer cannot promise that a reading will match your expectations or suit a particular purpose.
  • As to decisions you make with a reading in mind, and their outcome: where the developer is liable at all, that liability is limited to the amount you paid in the App for the use that gave rise to it, or to JPY 1,000 where you paid nothing. Please make important decisions yourself, and with a professional where that helps.
  • Your connection, your device, or the store and other outside services may at times keep the App from working.
  • These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them, or where the developer acted intentionally or with gross negligence.

10. Age

The minimum age for using the App is 18. Anyone under 18 may not use it.

11. Governing law

These Terms are read under the laws of Japan. No court is agreed in advance; the ordinary rules of law decide that. Please write to the address below first. The Japanese text of these Terms is the authoritative one; this English version is a reference translation.

12. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be revised as the App changes. A revision takes effect on the date shown with it on this page, once the revised text and that date have been posted here. Where a revision is to your disadvantage, it is announced on this page and through an App update at least 30 days before it takes effect. The "last updated" date on this page changes with it. Using the App after a revision has taken effect is taken as acceptance of it.

13. Apple Standard EULA

If you obtained the App from the App Store, the licence for the App is the Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These Terms set out, on top of that, the rules for using the App.
