Soiree Support

Last updated 11 October 2026 — covers "Black Cat Soiree Tarot Reading" (Japanese name: 黒猫のソワレ ― タロット占い) for iOS and Android

Soiree, a black cat reader, turns an original deck of 78 tarot cards and answers your question in writing. Readings and follow-up answers are written by Gemini, an AI made by Google. Claude, an AI made by Anthropic, is used for the second stage of the safety check. This page covers how the App works and the questions people ask most.

1. Getting started

The home screen has two ways in: the Card of the Day (one card a day, free, no AI) and Soiree's Tarot Reading (the full reading, which starts from your question, written by an AI, bought with a ticket or on the subscription; you can try one three-card reading free, once).

  1. On first launch, the App explains that an AI writes the readings and what is sent when it does. Read it and agree to continue.
  2. The Card of the Day gives you that day's card as it is. It is free every day and uses up nothing, because no AI is involved.
  3. In Soiree's Tarot Reading, write down what is on your mind. Please keep it within 400 characters.
  4. Stroke the deck to shuffle it, then pick three cards from the fan.
  5. Soiree reads the cards and writes your reading, ending with one small thing you can do today.

Soiree's Tarot Reading is bought as a ticket or on the subscription. You can try one three-card reading free, once only ("Try once" on the screen before any card is turned; after that, it is a ticket or the subscription). Your remaining count is always shown before you turn a card. You are never asked to pay after a card is turned.

2. Every day

  • Card of the Day — one card each day. It is always free and uses up nothing, because no AI is involved; the text is prepared in advance. It is separate from Soiree's Tarot Reading and needs no question from you.
  • Journal — the cards you drew, upright or reversed, the reading text, any follow-up questions, and the date and time are kept automatically. Nothing expires. You can also look back at which cards came up most in a month.
  • Card index — the artwork and meaning of all 78 cards, readable at any time.

3. Prices

The amount you pay follows the price displayed by App Store / Google Play. The purchase screen also displays the price received from your store. See the terms of use for the current Japanese prices.

Daily three-ticket planThree tickets each day. Monthly auto-renewal. Issued tickets last 180 days

You cannot subscribe to both plans at once. One ticket pays for one three-card reading. Subscription tickets expire at 00:00 Japan time 180 days after issue and remain usable until expiry after cancellation. A purchase alone does not start a reading: a ticket is used when you choose to draw. There are no ads.

Successful device verification allows one three-card trial per device. Reinstalling or deleting your account does not reset it, and it never starts a subscription automatically. The Card of the Day remains free each day.

4. Questions people ask

What is a follow-up question?

A reading paid for with a purchased or subscription ticket includes one follow-up with a clarifying card. Open that reading in the journal and choose Follow-up until 23:59 Japan time on the day of the reading. The free trial does not include it. Sending it transmits that entry’s original question, reading text and cards, the new question and the clarifying card to the server and to Google’s Gemini as context. The new question may also be sent to Anthropic’s Claude for safety checking. It is unavailable the next day or after use.

Where is the Celtic Cross?

The Celtic Cross is planned for a future version. It is not available now.

I do not want reversed cards

Turn reversals off in Settings. While they are off, every card is read upright. The card index still shows both the upright and reversed meanings, whatever the setting.

Does Soiree remember what I said before?

No. Soiree does not remember what you told it in earlier readings. Each reading is written from that question and the cards drawn. You can read past readings that remain on your device in the Journal. A follow-up to the same reading sends that reading’s original question and text as context.

I paid, but nothing changed / I got a new phone

Try Restore purchases in Settings using the same Apple Account or Google account as the purchase. This restores available ticket balances and an active subscription when the store can verify the purchase. Purchased tickets may not be verifiable or restorable, and local journal entries are not restored. Refund, revocation and expiry states also apply. Contact the address below if this does not resolve the issue.

How do I cancel the subscription?

  • iPhone: Settings app → your name → Subscriptions → Soiree → Cancel Subscription
  • Android: Google Play Store → profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → Soiree → Cancel subscription

The App's settings screen links straight to that page. Neither deleting your account nor deleting the App stops subscription billing. After cancelling, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.

I would like a refund

Purchases are made through Apple and Google, so refunds go through them: use Apple's Report a Problem or Google Play’s refund help. Email the address below as well and the developer will help where possible.

Does Family Sharing work?

No. Family Sharing and the Google Play family library are not supported. Purchases work on the buying account only.

Does it work offline?

The Card of the Day, the journal, and the card index all work without a connection. Soiree's Tarot Reading and follow-up questions need one; when you are offline, the App tells you before you turn a card.

A reading bothered me

Use Report this reading below the text. By default the text itself is not sent; the reason you pick and identifiers for the reading and the AI call concerned are sent. The developer sees the text only if you tick the box to attach it.

What if the reading fails?

If we cannot deliver enough of the text, the ticket used is returned when the conditions are met. No ticket is returned after an interruption if at least half of the generated text and at least 100 characters have been delivered. Automatic returns are limited to two per calendar day in Japan time for both the same device and purchaser ID. Failed follow-up processing also counts toward this limit. Contact support if the limit is exceeded or your ticket is not returned.

If Soiree cannot produce a reading, you are not asked to pay again. What comes back depends on the spread and on how the reading was paid for:

  • Drawn as your free try — the try counts as used. If insufficient text was delivered, the failure return process ran and the retry conditions are met, you can draw again once within 24 hours. Retry grants are limited to two in total per device.
  • Drawn with a ticket — one ticket is given back when the return conditions above are met.
  • Drawn with a ticket issued by a monthly plan — one ticket is given back when the return conditions above are met.
  • A follow-up question — the count does not come back. The same slot can be retried once when the conditions are met. A retry after failure may be unavailable if enough text was delivered or the automatic return limit above has been reached.

Will my journal be deleted?

Journal entries have no storage expiry. They live on your device. Besides deleting an entry, the App or your account, losing local data through a device reset or failure may make them unavailable. The developer cannot restore journal entries from the server.

Deleting entries and leaving the service

You can delete journal entries individually. To erase all local journal entries and settings and leave the service, use Settings → Delete account. Local data is erased only after the server confirms completion. If the result is unknown, the App keeps the data and checks again. Contact support before removing the App if this persists. The developer cannot restore deleted local journal entries.

Purchase, ticket and refund ledgers and used-trial marks remain after account deletion. Restoration may link some records again. See section 8 of the privacy policy. Removing the App alone does not request server-side deletion. Immediate deletion of information retained by AI providers is not guaranteed. If you cannot use in-app deletion or want to request data deletion, email iguchi.apps@gmail.com.

Neither deleting your account nor removing the App stops subscription billing. Cancel with App Store / Google Play first.

5. What a reading is

Readings are text written by an AI, based on traditional ways of reading tarot. They do not predict future events, and the App gives no medical, legal, or financial advice. For anything concerning your health, money, or legal position, please consult a professional.
