Soiree Terms of Use
Last updated 14 September 2026 — covers "Soiree — Black Cat Tarot" for iOS and Android
These terms of use ("the Terms") set out the rules for using "Soiree — Black Cat Tarot" ("the App"). Please use the App only if you accept them. For how your information is handled, see the privacy policy; for how the App works, see Support.
1. What the App is
- In the App, Soiree, a black cat reader, turns tarot cards and answers your question in writing. There are two things to use: the Card of the Day (one card a day, free, prepared text, no AI) and Soiree's Tarot Reading (a full reading that starts from your question, written by an AI, bought with a ticket or on the subscription).
- Soiree's Tarot Reading is written by Claude, an AI made by Anthropic PBC, not by a person. The Card of the Day uses no AI; its text is prepared in advance. Section 4 of the privacy policy lists what is sent to the AI.
- The App is for entertainment. Readings are text written by an AI, based on traditional ways of reading tarot, and they do not predict future events.
- The App gives no medical, legal, or financial advice. For anything concerning your health, money, or legal position, please consult a professional. If you need someone to talk to, the support page lists helplines.
2. No account
- There is no account. The App never asks for your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, or location.
- Readings taken are counted with a key created for your device; what you have bought is counted with a key tied to the store transaction. Section 3 of the privacy policy explains how each key is made.
- Resetting your device, or installing the App on another one, does not carry over what is stored on the device. What you paid for can be brought back with "Restore purchases".
3. Payments
- Everything is sold as an in-app purchase through the App Store or Google Play. The sale is made through the store, and payment follows the store's own rules. The developer never receives your card details.
- Prices, product names, and periods are shown on the store's product page and on the purchase screen inside the App. Those displays are the current ones.
- The subscription renews automatically. Unless it is cancelled, the same period is renewed at the end of the term and charged to the payment method held by your store account.
- Cancel from your App Store or Google Play account settings. The App's settings screen links straight there. Deleting the App does not stop the billing. After cancelling, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Refunds follow Apple's and Google's own rules. Use Apple's Report a Problem or the Google Play help pages. Email the address below as well and the developer will help where possible.
- The only free part is the Card of the Day (one card a day; it uses up nothing). Soiree's Tarot Reading is bought as a ticket or on the subscription. A subscription never starts on its own.
- The subscription allows up to three readings a day (per subscription), and a follow-up question can be asked only on the same day as the reading it belongs to. Readings you have bought never expire.
- Family Sharing and the Google Play family library are not supported. Purchases work on the buying account only.
4. What you should not do
Please do not:
- break the law, or infringe anyone else's rights;
- tamper with how the App works in order to hold readings or entitlements you were not given;
- use automated means to request readings in bulk, or otherwise interfere with the service;
- copy, distribute, or sell the card artwork, the card index text, or the designs of the App beyond your own private use (using the text of your own readings in your own notes or posts is fine);
- present a reading from the App to anyone as medical, legal, or financial advice;
- contact support while pretending to be someone else.
Where such use is found, the App may be made unavailable on that device.
5. Intellectual property
The 78 cards were created for this app one by one with AI; nothing is scanned from a commercial deck. Rights in the artwork, text, and designs belong to the developer or to their rightful owners. The records kept in the app (the cards drawn and reading text) are yours.
6. Your information
What is held, where it goes, how long it is kept, and how to delete it are all set out in the privacy policy. Your question is never stored on the developer's server — with one exception: a single piece of text you attach yourself when reporting a reading (deleted after 90 days; see section 6 of the privacy policy). Your journal stays on your device.
7. Safety messages
If your question contains wording about harming yourself or someone else, the App does not produce a reading and shows a list of helplines instead. You are not asked to pay again, and no ticket is used up. On the subscription, one of that day's three readings does not come back (and if it was a Celtic Cross, that day's Celtic Cross does not come back either). See section 5 of the privacy policy and "What if the reading fails?" in Support.
8. Changes to the service
- The App, in whole or in part, may be paused without notice for maintenance, for a fault, or for a change in how it works.
- Features may be added, changed, or withdrawn. Changes that matter to you will be announced through an App update or on this page.
- The App relies on an outside service to write readings. While that service is down, a reading may not be produced. What comes back in that case (a ticket is given back; on the subscription one of that day's three readings does not come back) is set out under "What if the reading fails?" in Support.
9. Limits of responsibility
- The App is provided as it is. The developer cannot promise that a reading will match your expectations or suit a particular purpose.
- As to decisions you make with a reading in mind, and their outcome: where the developer is liable at all, that liability is limited to the amount you paid in the App for the use that gave rise to it, or to JPY 1,000 where you paid nothing. Please make important decisions yourself, and with a professional where that helps.
- Your connection, your device, or the store and other outside services may at times keep the App from working.
- These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them, or where the developer acted intentionally or with gross negligence.
10. Age
The App is rated 13+ and is not intended for children under 13. Users under 18 should have a parent or guardian agree to these Terms and go through them together.
11. Governing law
These Terms are read under the laws of Japan. No court is agreed in advance; the ordinary rules of law decide that. Please write to the address below first. The Japanese text of these Terms is the authoritative one; this English version is a reference translation.
12. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be revised as the App changes. A revision takes effect on the date shown with it on this page, once the revised text and that date have been posted here. Where a revision is to your disadvantage, it is announced on this page and through an App update at least 30 days before it takes effect. The "last updated" date on this page changes with it. Using the App after a revision has taken effect is taken as acceptance of it.
13. Apple Standard EULA
If you obtained the App from the App Store, the licence for the App is the Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These Terms set out, on top of that, the rules for using the App.
